At this year’s Oktberfest, there will be two authentic German Oompah bands:
Die Lustigen Almdudler – Our Headlining Band!
Die Lustigen Almdudler is a 4 piece band from Rochester, New York, that specializes in German/Austrian music. They play both the traditional and modern songs.
Well known throughout Western and Central New York, Die Lustigen Almdudler also features Schuhplattling (folk dancing in the Bavarian tradition), cow bell ringing, and skits.
Die Lustigen Almdudler have thrilled audiences wherever they play with their infectious music and variety of entertainment. They have often been asked, because of our authentic style, “Where in Germany (or Austria) is your band from?”… a very high compliment indeed!

The Inseldudler is a band which performs traditional brass band music of the German speaking countries. The name Inseldudler comes from the German Insel (island) and dudeln (to toot an instrument). The band first performed at Applefest in the Champlain Islands in 2002, hence the name Inseldudler. Band members come from towns around the Champlain Valley.
Our repertoire consists of polkas, waltzes and other “Oompah” tunes as well as time-tested international favorites appropriate for any celebration, such as Little Brown Jug, Down by the Riverside, Tiger Rag and Aloha Ohe.
The band has played for Oktoberfest celebrations in Vermont, New Hampshire and New York as well as performing for parades, pubs and private parties around Vermont.
Traditional Tyrolean costumes and expertise in German and music ensure that the Inseldudler provide an authentic performance. John Luce, the leader of the Inseldudler, is a German teacher who has played trumpet in brass bands in Germany and Austria. Several of the band members studied music in college and perform with various groups throughout Vermont.
